Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian was born in Canada and raised in the U.S. She's been an editor since the year 1995. She founded Feminist Frequency the website which provides commentary and videos on depictions of women's roles in popular media. Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian-American blogger and media critic who has been awarded accolades for her work. She is an activist blogger. Feminist Frequency investigates how women are represented in popular culture. She's committed to removing stereotypes about women and how they are portrayed in popular culture. In addition, she works to raise the awareness of harassment on social media targeted towards women as well as the marginalized communities of people. Sarkeesian is a graduate in the field of political and social thought at York University. As a public speaker, she is highly sought after and has spoken at TEDxWomenXOXO and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. Passionate about issues of gender identity and feminism from at an early age, she created her website Feminist Frequency in 2009, while studying at the university. The ambitious lady planned to create an online series that examined gender representation in games, and was then the victim of an online campaign to harass her. But the harassment did not discourage her. It only strengthened her as a feminist journalist. The award-winning journalist has received numerous accolades for her numerous notable contributions to the field of feminism. Anita Sarkeesian has been a media critic for many years and is the founder of Feminist Frequency. The educational non-profit explores the role of women within the popular culture stories.
